The Position:

KAYAK is looking for a bright, fun loving QA Engineer to help ensure the overall quality of the KAYAK product suite, with a focus on our package tours product in international locales. The ideal candidate is a strong team player with great interpersonal skills, quality conscious, organized, and has excellent written and verbal communication skills.   • The candidate is responsible for quality assurance of the package tours product across locales, identifying and driving resolution of software quality issues, in collaboration with localisation team
  • Designs, develops and executes test plans for various features of the KAYAK product suite
  • Reports and tracks issues found, works with developers in problem isolation, and helps drive resolution
  • Works with engineering team to develop new testing tools/techniques for better product test coverage
  • Reads and responds to consumer reported issues, identifying possible product usability issues, and, working with support and development, drives product change.



  • Hands-on software quality assurance experience, testing web-based applications
  • Excellent knowledge of Internet/web and mobile technologies such as web browsers, app platforms, http, html, and xml
  • Good understanding of usability and user experience on web and mobile applications
  • Understanding of problem isolation, writing test plans or test matrices, QA testing methodologies, and debugging
  • Ability to make intelligent trade-offs, know when to escalate issues, and proactively identify risks
  • Strong capacity for logical thinking, with the ability to dig deep into issues and find the root cause in a complex web offering
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, where frequent releases are the norm and additional production updates are always a possibility
  • Good understanding of usability and user experience on web and mobile applications
  • Fluent English with excellent oral and written communication skills, other languages are a plus


  • Experience using source control and build/release tools
  • Experience with testing both open source and enterprise technologies
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools
  • Ability to travel for periodic meetings
