Berlin Geekettes Lean In Circle: Women in Leadership - How to Get There

If we want to advance in our careers we have to learn more from those in senior position at large technology companies. And what better way of learning is there then sharing stories and answering questions in a relaxed and safe environment?

Last time you've told us you'd also like to hear the male perspective on the topic so this time we'll prepare a mixed panel of managers of different types of teams. Keep an eye on us on Facebook and Twitter, since we'll be announcing our speakers soon.

Book your sit here.

Berlin Geekettes - Kantine am Berghain

Berlin. An amazing city filled with tech & music enthusiasts who are busy producing, DJing, designing and building software that allows artists to share their music with millions around the world. It's an exciting time for creatives in Berlin and we're happy to be a part of this evolving capital. But unfortunately, there is a despairingly low number of females producing in the electronic dance community and even fewer who are entering the technology industry. So we at Berlin Geekettes want to show our appreciation to all the women that have inspired us over the years and join together for a fun evening of discussion and dance at Katine am Berghain.

*Special thanks to our sponsors: Through My Speakers, Soundcloud & Native Instruments

Alexandra Dröner got lost in music from an early age on trying to escape the narrow walls of her teenage bedsit in a small town somewhere in West-Germany by listening to John Peel's Music on BFBS and reading Spex magazine. Having moved to Berlin on the 1st of January 1989 to continue her studies of History of Arts, Sociology and Comparative Literature she soon got caught up in the mythical Berlin nightlife. Scoring a job as a bartender at then-hip drinking hole Fischlabor she became the "apprentice" of Achim Kohlberger and Dimitri Hegemann, aged 23, and was asked to take part in opening and running Tresor club alongside Regina Baer and Johnny Stieler in 1991. Dröner mantained to be a well known figure in the Berlin electronic music and club culture scene ever since, having worked as a doorkeeper, booker, publications officer and event organizer at clubs like Tresor, E-Werk, WMF or 103. She started the DJ-team Sick Girls together with Johanna Grabsch in 2004 followed by their party series Revolution N°5 from 2005 until 2012. As a as freelance writer, editor and editor-in-chief Dröner has contributed to several publications like De:Bug, Style and the Family Tunes or Electronic Beats online.

Sarah Farina quickly invaded all corners of Berlin’s bass driven clubs over the last years. With influences ranging from Mark Pritchard, Timbaland, Aphex Twin and J Dilla, she's quickly forged a reputation throughout Europe’s underground bass scene by filling her sets and mixes with an unpredictable blend of UKG, Jungle, Juke, Hip Hop at the same time her sets are driven forward through futuristic Breakbeats and intense Basslines. In 2012 Sarah Farina became part of the ‘Through My Speakers’ collective. Over the last years she supported some of the most respected of her bass music contemporaries, both locally and abroad, playing on Rinse.fms Hyperdub show with Kode9 and Scratcha DVA in London, DJ’d with Disclosure and Cinnaman at Applesap Amsterdam and played with Lunice, DJ Rashad, Loefah and many more. A dream became true in October 2013 when she was asked to play along one of her favorite Drum and Bass producers Darren White alias dBridge at the decennial anniversary of Exit Records alongside Om Unit and SP:MC at Gretchen Berlin. Her contribution to Boiler Room a while back was well recieved by BR’s usually very critical audience.
