Berlin Geekettes Launch Germany’s First All-Women Hackathon

Berlin Geekettes are very excited to announce our first All-Women Hackathon, happening the first weekend in March. We’ve partnered with developers at SoundCloud to put this event together, which will be hosted by our supportive sponsor Deutsche Telekom.

Find out more here: http://berlingeekettes.github.com/hackathon/

Need-to-know details:

  • 24 hours of hacking on Saturday March 2 and Sunday March 3
  • Hackathon Prep School on the evening of Friday March 1
  • Everyone is welcome. Apply now!
  • Prizes! Including five iPad Minis

We want to make this a special event, with a Geekettes twist: real food not junk food, a relaxation area, an exercise trainer, and more surprises.

Our hackathon is open to all types of projects. Pretty much anything that you fancy: software or hardware hacking, mobile dev, web dev, etc. Hackathons are not just for programmers! We also need designers and idea people.

Participating

We know this city has a lot of talent, and we want to bring together as many women as possible for this event. No matter your experience or domain of expertise, you are welcome! And we will make sure you get any support you need. If you have never been to a hackathon, or you are a new programmer, we are organizing Hackathon Prep School, powered by the amazing folks at OpenTechSchool.

You can also apply as a Domain Expert. If you know a lot about one specific topic (be it design, JavaScript, or product) sign up to help support others with their hack. We promise sharing your knowledge/expertise in that context is effortless, rewarding and fun.

And of course the public is welcome to attend the demos on Sunday and cheer people on.

We hope to see as many women as possible, and not just from Berlin. Spread the word amongst your colleagues and friends and see you all very soon.

Special thanks to our sponsors and supporters:
